Beware that this stitch isn’t the usual ones the you usually see.
for average lanyard makers I would rank it as : difficult.
but since I know more difficult stitches than that so I give it in my perspective a rank : medium.

00:00 – intro.
The quad stitch is the first stitch in length that has other variations excluding the normal quad stitch.
Here we’ll talk about my favorite quad variation boondoggle stitch (scoubidou/lanyard/gimp). After knowing this stitch you may try the same idea on a larger stitch such as a 3by3 (3×3), on a 4by4 (4×4) stitch or even on a tornado stitch (2by2 / 2×2)!

00:02:03 – instructions for first part of this video.

00:02:08 – step 1.
that current position is if you have one of the strings that points towards you is on the far right.

00:02:30 – step 2.
make a box stitch out of the 4 strings that are in the edge.

00:02:58 – step 3.
we will now go in counter-clockwise order, by first taking the string that point towards you (this will be called 1st string) . weaving OVER the edge string that points Right and UNDER the edge string that points Up.

00:04:42 – step 4.
2nd string (the one on the right side) , weaving OVER the edge string that points Up , UNDER the “1st string” (from step 3) , and UNDER the edge string that points Left.

00:06:20 – step 5.
3rd string (the one on the away from you), weaving OVER the edge string that points Left , UNDER the “2nd string” (from step 4) , and UNDER the edge string that points Down.

00:07:23 – step 6.
4th string (the one on the left), weaving OVER the edge string that points Down, UNDER the “3rd string” (from step 5) , OVER the “1st string” (from step 3) ,and UNDER the edge string that points Right.

00:11:54 – moving to the stitch that is the mirror position of this stitch (everything is in the opposite side).

00:12:06 – instructions for second part of this video, since in a quad stitch scoubidou (lanyard/boondoggle/gimp) there are to similar ways to have it, one is the mirror stitch of the other, I’ll need to examine both of them.

00:12:11 – step 1.

3rd string (the one on the away from you), weaving OVER the edge string that points Right, UNDER the “2nd string” (from step 4) , and UNDER the edge string that points Down.

00:17:26 – step 6.
4th string (the one on the right), weaving OVER the edge string that points Down, UNDER the “3rd string” (from step 5) , OVER the “1st string” (from step 3) ,and UNDER the edge string that points Left.
